BREVARD COUNTY, FLA. – Facilitated by each area board member, BPS will host
five legislative outreach forums to communicate the School Board of Brevard County’s,
recommendations to Florida Legislators as they enter the 2015 legislative session.
BPS will recommend changes to statutory language that could support and
strengthen public education in Florida while striking the right balance between state and
local control of educational programming and accountability decisions. The two key goals
presented in their legislative priorities are the need to revise legislation to create a
thoughtful, quality, and sustainable assessment and accountability system, along with the
necessity to create a stable and adequate source of funding for public schools.
Community members are invited to attend the scheduled forums below, where they
will be provided with an overview of the recommendations and given the opportunity to ask
questions.
